According to the settled tradition, friends and worshipers of musician Muslim Magomaev gathered on 25^th October to honour the memory of this great Russian and Azerbaijan singer and composer. On this day every worshiper of Muslim Magometovich’s talent came up once more to his monument located in Moscow in the mini park at the crossroads of Voznesenskiy and Eliseevskiy sidestreets.
Five years have passed since the master of amazing voice and unmatched talent went to never ending sleep. True worshipers and relatives gathered beside his monument in order to pay tribute and lay flowers, among them Liudmila Shvetsova, the deputy of the 6^th State Duma; Aras and Emin Agalarov, the founders of the Muslim Magomaev Musical and Cultural Heritage Fund; Naderya Mukhamejan, the head of the Secretariat of I. Shuvalov, the First Deputy of the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation; Leonid Roshal, Doctor of Medical Sciences and Director of the Science and Research Institute of Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology; Professor Mamed Aliev, director of the Moscow Science and Research Institute of Pediatric Oncology; Yuliy Gusman, founder and art director of “Nika” the 1^st National Award of the Russian Cinema Arts Academy; Svetlana Morgunova, the TV show hostess; Professor Alexander Bronstein, the member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and honoured physician of the Russian Federation; Salavat Scherbakov, sculpturer, people’s artist of Russia and full member of the Russian Academy of Arts; and others. Every attendant laid flowers at the monument of the great singer and paid tribute to Muslim Magomaev with one-minute silence.
Tamara Sinyavskaya expressed her gratitude to everybody who arrived in order to pay tribute to Muslim Magomaev: “I am grateful to Muslim’s worshipers for their memory and attendance not only on notable days but also on usual days, I am grateful for not forgetting… Such actions help and support. Here we see people who keep Muslim, his voice and personal qualities in their hearts till the present time. I am grateful and deeply respect you for that.”
Aras Agalarov, founder of the Muslim Magomaev Musical and Cultural Heritage Fund, noted that Muslim Magomaev remains the top level example of supreme vocal art: “Muslim was a unique person in any respect. He will forever remain the top example of art for Azerbaijan, Russia and the whole world. He is the most decent role model for future generations”.
Magomaev’s worshipers stayed for long. Some of them declaimed texts from songs that were performed by Muslim Magometovich and others declaimed their own poems dedicated to this musician.
Muslim Magomaev died in Moscow on 25^th October 2008 at the age of 67. He was buried at the Baku Alley for honourable burials. At the initiative of Aras Agalarov, the president of Crocus Group and Magomaev’s close friend, a bronze monument was erected in 2011 beside the Moscow house of this great singer.
